Newborn Sessions

What is a newborn session?

Newborn sessions are booked in before your little one arrives. It may seem like the longest wait, but in those first few days you will see how even from one morning to the next, your new baby is changing. These images are a perfect way of remembering how delicate and tiny they were. Don't worry, bookings are based around your due date, though this is completely flexible as we all know they usually don't arrive on time! Once your little one has arrived we will arrange a suitable time to capture precious images in their delicate newborn curly state.

Ideally, sessions will take place in the first 10 days of your new addition entering the world as this is when they are most sleepy and posable, having been so snugly protected in the womb. Prior to your appointment, we can talk through your favourite poses, colour schemes and props. All outfits, props, headbands and hats will be provided by me, but if there is a sentimental item you wish to include please do let me know! You will just need to bring yourselves, your beautiful baby and any of their usual items such as; nappies, dummies or muslins, on the day.

Sessions are usually two hours long, though this is completely flexible. Remember... baby is running the show! If they need to feed or be settled then we will stop so that they can do so, whether this be once, twice or multiple times. The room will be warm, so I would recommended to dress wearing layers. Please do also think about whether you wish to be in any pictures with your new addition. This can be either a portrait image, or using your hands to hold your newborn or even a super cute finger grasp!

I have trained in newborn safety and posing with and am insured by and a member of The Guild of Photographers. If your new addition is older than 10 days, please do still get in contact as we will still be able to capture beautiful images. Once they are able to sit independently, or enjoy tummy time and can hold up their head comfortably, you can consider a sitter session.
